Easy Mountain Bike and E-Mountain Bike in the Salzkammergut
Cycling region for beginners and experienced cyclists - E-MTB tours in Upper Austria
Enjoy - conquer new vistas - experience nature - free and independent of cable cars, public transport and your own muscle power: Many gentle climbs and easy mountain bike tours in the Salzkammergut are ideal for mountain bike beginners and less experienced athletes. Or, as a bike professional, you can borrow an e-mountain bike from the Hotel Agathawirt and storm to completely new summits.
The extensive mountain bike network of the Salzkammergut can be conquered perfectly not only with your own muscle power, but also with e-support. This makes it possible to experience shared adventures even with varying levels of athletic stamina and fitness - beginners and professionals alike.
Compared to the narrow valleys and the rugged and steep mountains in the west of Austria, there are many possibilities in the Salzkammergut, even for somewhat more leisurely mountain bike tours.
Easy-Mountainbike
Of course the mountains in Upper Austria, Salzburg and Styria offer enough challenges for really demanding mountain bikers, but there are also many routes with less steep and long climbs that can also be tackled with pleasure by less trained cyclists.
Together with our experienced local staff, you will surely find the ideal bike route for your demands. Experience Easy-Bike at its best during your holiday, around the lakes in the Salzkammergut.
Enjoyment of nature has a name: E-mountain bike
With an e-mountain bike, even less experienced cyclists can master challenging tours and still enjoy the dreamlike mountain world of the Salzkammergut. Take advantage of the bike rental service at Bike-Hotel Agathawirt, borrow an e-mountain bike during your holiday and conquer the mountains in a completely new way.
In cooperation with the Salzkammergut Mountain Bike Centre, e-mountain bikers are offered their own guided MTB tours as well as technique training for your safety.
Easy bike tours for beginners and less experienced bikers with E-MTBs
In the Salzkammergut, even "beginners" to the sport of cycling and athletes who do not need to measure themselves against a new altitude record every day will find a wide range of tours on offer. Accordingly, these tours are recommended for beginners and inexperienced cyclists:
World Heritage Route
The route leads through the picturesque landscape of the UNESCO World Heritage region Hallstatt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut. The tour goes along the Hallstättersee east bank. An impressive suspension bridge leads directly over the deepest part of the lake. Past Hallstatt railway station, the loop takes you on to Obertraun.
Here we recommend a detour to the Krippenstein, to the 5fingers or World Heritage Spiral viewing platforms. But the mountain interior also invites you to take a detour, such as the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave or the Mammoth Cave. In the historic town of Hallstatt, the Salt Worlds also offer an insight into salt mining. The boat takes you from the town centre back to the eastern shore of Lake Hallstatt and back to the starting point.
K & K - Route
The K&K route also starts directly at the Hotel Agathawirt. Along the varied Ostuferwander- und Ostuferradweg (East Shore Hiking and Cycling Trail), the route goes uphill and downhill along Lake Hallstättersee and on towards Koppental. The new cycle path through the picturesque Koppental valley brings you, after a somewhat larger climb, to the Koppenpass road, which takes you to Bad Aussee.
Via Altaussee you go to the Blaa Alm, across the alpine pasture further to the Rettenbachalm and through the Rettenbachtal to the imperial town of Bad Ischl (TIP: Treat yourself to a pastry in the famous Zauner confectionery on the banks of the Traun!).
The tour takes you directly through the town centre, along the esplanade to the Katrin cable car. Follow in the footsteps of the emperor at the hunting statue in the direction of Lauffen and back along the Traun to Bad Goisern.
Delicacy route / "Schmankerl-Runde"
Enjoy the typical Salzkammergut delicacies with a view of King Dachstein.
The Schmankerl-Runde takes you to the culinary highlights at huts in the World Heritage Region, along technically manageable forest paths. The Haller Alm and the Rathlucken Hütte await you with their regional specialities such as Holzknechtnocken, local fish and delicious desserts. This route is characterised by the scenic diversity of the region.
Another highlight of the tour is the Ewige Wand, where you drive directly through a rock face. A short stop offers a unique view into the Goiserertal. But also King Dachstein shows itself again and again in the distance with its imposing glacier.
"Einradeln" (refresh skills) and easy tours
"Einradeln" means learning to cycle for the first time or practising again and refreshing previous knowledge. These less ambitious tours are ideal for this:
- Hallstättersee circuit incl. Koppenwinkelsee (25 km, 150 hm):
Easy loop around the lake, with several nice places to stop and an east side free of any car traffic. - Weissenbachrunde (20 km, 240 hm):
ideal mountain bike loop for beginners, only a good 200 metres in altitude and technically not very demanding, with relatively finely gravelled forest roads, but still highlights, such as the oldest intact Klausanlage to visit - Hochmuthrunde (21 km, 500 hm):
"modest" metres in altitude, but technically not to be underestimated descents already require a little more experience - Ewige-Wand-Runde (20 km, 500 hm):
This loop leads through one of the highlights of the region, the "Ewige Wand" path blasted into the rock - in this passage, technically timid bikers can also push their bikes - the ascents and descents are easily manageable even for less experienced bikers.
Tip: The view is definitely worth it! - Ausseerland - Ischlerland (30 km, 280 m):
The first stage is always done by train, which runs every hour and takes the bikes along. - Offenseerunde (45 km, 450 hm):
The first stage of this route is completed by train.
Tip: Detour to the Traunsee lake for a swim.
